DAY CARE & BREEDING
Breed Pokémon in Day Care boxes and hatch the eggs by walking.
Updated
The Day Care is where you breed Pokémon on MineFury. You put two compatible Pokémon in a breeding box, walk around while the box makes an egg, then move the egg to the hatchery and keep walking until it hatches. It works the same way on the Pixelmon and Cobblemon servers.
OPENING THE DAY CARE
Talk to the Day Care NPC at spawn; /warp daycare takes you there. Ranks from Challenger up can also open the Day Care from anywhere with /daycare.
WHAT YOU GET WITHOUT A RANK
Every player has one breeding box, room for 5 eggs in the hatchery, and one egg incubating at a time. Ranks add more breeding boxes (up to 5), more hatchery room, more eggs incubating at once and /daycare from anywhere. The ranks guide lists which rank adds what.
BREEDING BOXES
A breeding box holds two Pokémon from your party. They need to share an egg group and be a male and a female, or one of them can be a Ditto. The box shows whether the pair is compatible and their egg chance. Two Dittos cannot breed together, and Pokémon in the Undiscovered egg group, such as most legendaries, cannot breed at all.
You do not have to stay near the Day Care. Every 1,024 steps you take anywhere on the server, each box with a pair in it rolls for an egg:
- 70% · same species, different Original Trainers.
- 50% · same species and the same Original Trainer, or different species with different Original Trainers.
- 20% · different species with the same Original Trainer.
A step counts each time you move onto a new block, up to 10 steps a second. A box holds one egg at a time and stops rolling until you collect it. The Breeding skill's Increased Egg Chance perk cuts the steps between rolls by up to 50% (see skills).
THE HATCHERY AND HATCHING
Collect an egg from its box to move it into the hatchery. Eggs only progress while they are incubating: click an egg to start or stop incubating it. An incubating egg needs steps equal to its species' egg cycles times 384, so species with more egg cycles take longer. When an egg is ready, click it to hatch it. The Pokémon goes into your party, or your PC if your party is full.
An Egg Hatch Booster makes your eggs hatch faster while it runs. One comes with the 151 catch milestone in the Pokédex.
HOURGLASSES
Hourglasses speed up a breeding box. Right-click one, pick the box, and it is used up only if it works on that box. There are four kinds:
- Copper Hourglass · skips a quarter of the box's wait.
- Silver Hourglass · runs the box's egg check right away, at its normal egg chance.
- Gold Hourglass · the box makes its egg right away.
- Diamond Hourglass · fills the box you picked and your next ready boxes, up to 3 in total. Eggs from it hatch with perfect IVs and full friendship.
An hourglass only works on a box that has a compatible pair and no egg waiting.
WHAT THE BABY INHERITS
- Ability · the mother passes her ability down 80% of the time, and a hidden ability passes down as a hidden ability. When one parent is a Ditto, the other parent passes its ability instead: 80% of the time, or 60% if it is male or has its hidden ability.
- Everstone · a parent holding an Everstone passes its nature to the baby. If both parents hold one, the nature comes from one of them at random.
- Destiny Knot · if either parent holds one, the baby inherits more of its IVs from its parents.
- Power items · a parent holding a Power Weight, Bracer, Belt, Lens, Band or Anklet always passes down its IV for that item's stat. If both parents hold one, only one of them takes effect, picked at random.
- Poké Ball · the baby comes in the mother's ball, or in the other parent's ball when one parent is a Ditto.
- Egg moves · the baby starts with egg moves that its parents know, up to 4.
